QA CAMP |
QUIRKYALONE CAMP![]() The view from Hollyhock, home of the West Coast Quirkyalone Camp The first Quirkyalone Camp of the summer took place June 29-July 3, 2005 in Canada at Hollyhock. It was a major success. Check the main page of this site for photos, testimonials, and a report. Choose from two locations: QA Camp will be both thought-provoking and fun. We'll discuss the genesis and growth of the quirkyalone movement, quirkyalones throughout history, the special role of friendship for people like us, the nature of the quirkytogether relationship, quirkyalone careers, and more. This will not be dry classroom learning, however. Throughout QA camp we will be outside as much as we will be inside. There will also be plenty of time to hike, swim, canoe, watch quirkyalone movies, attend yoga class every morning, and more. West Coast Quirkyalone Camp East Coast Quirkyalone Camp Why is it called "camp"? We could call it a convention, summit, or meeting of the minds. But camp sounds more fun, and that is what these events are all about: the enjoyment and inspiration of meeting other quirkyalones. Camp also implies more outdoor activities like hiking and swimming, just two of the things we will be doing. I will be at Quirkyalone Camp acting as the workshop leader and cruise director. As I plan our activities, I hope to hear from people who plan to come about what you would like to do and discuss. Like Burning Man, where the ethic is "no spectators" and people are encouraged to participate rather than consume, Quirkyalone Camp will be a place where we can learn from each other. I look forward to meeting some of you this summer! Please let me know if you have questions. And please email me and introduce yourself and let me know if you are planning to come. All best, P. S. I hope that some of you from Europe, Australia, Asia, and Africa will consider making Quirkyalone Camp part of a larger trip to North America so we can make the event truly international. |
